Chief Medical Officer

Dr. McKnight is WestJet’s first Chief Medical Officer, joining the airline in April of 2021. Prior to ‎coming to WestJet, Dr. McKnight had a very diverse medical practice and has practiced ‎emergency medicine for more than a decade across Alberta and British Columbia. In 2013, she ‎moved to an office-based practice, specializing in Occupational and Aviation Medicine. She is ‎an Associate of the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine, a Civil Aviation Examiner for ‎Transport Canada, A Fellow of the Canadian College of Physicians and is certified as a Drug and ‎Alcohol Testing expert as a Medical Review Officer. ‎


Prior to joining WestJet, Dr. McKnight served in several leadership roles including the Medical ‎Director for the Highland Primary Care Network for eight years. There, she was charged with ‎designing, implementing and evaluating mental health; and working in preventative medicine, ‎and chronic disease management programming for 75,000 patients. She also served as the ‎Medical Director for AirSprint Aviation and the Occupational Injury Services Clinic in the city of ‎Airdrie. ‎


She received her undergraduate training in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Alberta ‎and her Medical Degree at the University of Calgary, where she remains on faculty as a Clinical ‎Associate Professor at the Cummings School of Medicine. ‎


At WestJet, Dr. McKnight is involved in leading the airline’s COVID response as well as ‎numerous initiatives aimed at improving the health and wellness of WestJetters and WestJet ‎guests. ‎
